Peter Cornell has posted a powerful new photo with his mother Karen, and his late brother Chris Cornell’s ex-wife Susan Silver. Peter wrote: “The Cornell Family Matriarchs. A lesson in compassion and grace.” Chris Cornell’s bodyguard Martin Kirsten commented that it was a ‘great photo.’
This is the first time Karen has been photographed since her son’s death on May 18th, and the first new photo of Susan Silver with Cornell’s surviving relatives. Silver was with Cornell during his prime with Soundgarden, first dating the iconic singer in the mid 80’s and marrying him in 1990. Silver became a powerhouse in the Seattle music scene, managing Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. Cornell and Silver welcomed their only child together, Lily, in 2000. They divorced in 2004.
Karen Cornell is the “Matriarch” of Seattle’s musical Cornell family. Born and raised in Seattle, she was a professional dancer in her teens and twenties. She left the entertainment world to raise six children. During that time she became interested in the spiritual and metaphysical field.
Studying numerology in 1975 opened new doors to helping people. Since 1990 she has been doing private consultations and teaching classes. Karen has appeared on radio stations KHOT in Phoenix, KROQ in Los Angeles, and on several local Seattle stations, including KXRX with Mike West, KISW with Jon Ballard, KUBE with Julie Pilat and KQBZ with Robin and Maynard.
