Dave Grohl revealed that he was forced to shelve the Foo Fighters and their huge 25th anniversary plans, including a new album, a documentary, a secret project, a massive tour, and a new music video, in a new EW interview.

Grohl said Foo Fighters and their plans ‘went out the window’ due to the current pandemic, and that he is now focused on his family, and also sharing stories with fans to pass the time.

“I try not to think about it too much, because we put about a year’s worth of work into this year — meaning we started preparing multiple projects all to release now. There was a documentary, there was another secret project that we were so excited about, there was a tour, there’s a new album, we made a video… I mean, all of these things are just waiting to be released, and I was really looking forward to all of them to come out together for the anniversary.

Now that being said, all of that went out the window when the pandemic became what it is now. I forgot about the band, I forgot about the album, I forgot about the documentary and the video and I focused on my family — just as I’m sure everybody else did.

Right now I’m in such a daddy-domestic headspace that even just calling to do an interview is strange, because what is there to talk about really? But we do have this arsenal of material ready to f—in’ dam-burst all over the world, and it’s just a matter of figuring out when the world is ready because I think that’s a little more important than the Foo Fighters. [Laughs]”

Foo Fighters also linked to a GoFundMe today for struggling London venues, “Big or small, we love ’em all!!! If you are able, consider supporting the indie venues of London as well through @musicvenuetrust.”

The campaign states: Sector Support fundraising to help grassroots venues through the COVID-19 crisis

With the current global health crisis having a severe impact on grassroots music venues, Music Venue Trust is offering sector support to try and sustain them through the impacts of COVID-19. To do this we need your URGENT help.

Our Sector Support service is vital to try to do everything we can to stop the permanent closure of these venues resulting from their temporary closure to protect public health. The support we are delivering includes:

-Information gathering on GMVs to understand the impact COVID-19 is having on our sector
-Information sharing by bringing together the most up-to-date information on what GMVs must do to sustain their venue
-Political Representation so we ensure that the needs of GMVs are addressed by government
-Cultural Representation so we ensure that the needs of GMVs are addressed by the music industry and the cultural sector

At this time of crisis, Music Venue Trust wants to be able to offer a high level of engagement to our 650+ Music Venue Alliance members, whilst also maintaining our other core services like our Emergency Response Service.

In order to achieve this, donations raised from this Go Fund Me page will go towards enabling the MVT team to continue running our Sector Support and Emergency Response Services for as long as necessary in these uncertain times.
