A lot of new music is set for release. St. Vincent teamed up with Dave Grohl last year to tackle a rendition of Nine Inch Nails’ 1994 single “Piggy”, originally on the influential album “The Downward Spiral”.

The single was not available anywhere else for the longest time as it was only released as a 7″ for Record Store Day 2021. This made the song somewhat of an unground classic as not many were able to hear the song unless they had the special physical copy of it.

Thankfully, it’s been made available on all the usual streaming platforms in an official audio version. St. Vincent fans are falling in love with the song, but Dave Grohl fans feel that there is much to be desired in his drumming. Some fans expected more of a big drum solo from Grohl, but he actually played through the track very well and in the pocket. He never overstepped where he needed to be.

An eclectic artist at heart, her cover of “Piggy” shows that St. Vincent feels comfortable enough to step out of her usual indie ventures and into heavier pastures.

This isn’t the first time that Grohl and St. Vincent have teamed up as they both worked together within Nirvana. As many remember, St. Vincent sang Lithium as the band were inducted into the hall of fame.

She stated on working with Nirvana: “I thought it was a really cool way to honor the Olympia, [Washington] punk, freak, queer, feminist scene that the Nirvana guys came up in and were so very engrossed in that they asked women to fill in. “I thought it was a nice way to honor that part of their history, which sort of gets whitewashed in all the retrospective.”

The musician is preparing to embark on a Fall tour across North America, accompanied by Roxy Music. You can check out her version of “Piggy” featuring Dave Grohl below.
