The Doors drummer John Densmore praised the ‘pipes’ on ‘little guy’ Eddie Vedder in a new interview on the WTF podcast with Marc Maron.

Vedder sang with The Doors’ surviving members at the time John Densmore, Robby Krieger, and Ray Manzarek when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. The Doors were later joined by other big names like late Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland at their VH1 Storytellers show in 2000.

Manzarek and Krieger formed The Doors of the 21st Century and toured under their own names as well (due to legal battles with Densmore0 for the next decade, with singers like The Cult’s Ian Astbury joining them.

The surviving trio collaborated with rapper Tech N9ne in 2013 shortly before Ray Manzarek died. John Densmore reunited with Krieger for the first time in 15 years for a show in 2016 with several special guests joining them.

John Densmore: Yielding.

Marc Maron: Yeah man. Yielding… where did you get that word?

John: I got that from a cover of a Pearl Jam album called Yield. And the bass player took a photograph of a Yield sign. Man, that’s pretty hip.

Marc: You like those guys?

John: Oh, Eddie sang with us when we were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. I love that guy.

Marc: Great singer, huh?

John: Oh my god, those pipes from that little guy.
