Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang Van Halen, went on a tirade on Twitter recently. He took issue with people attributing false quotes to his father. This is something we see on the internet quite commonly, people would take a famous figure’s picture and edit some text to it to make it seem like that person said it.
Wolf posted a picture of Eddie holding a guitar which had the following text next to it: “I like real music. You know, the kind of music that actually takes talent.” Wolf wrote that this picture emanates the energy of an anti-rap music Baby Boomer who just figured out how to use Photoshop.
Wolf added to the tweet, writing sarcastically that it feels so wonderful people get to just plaster whatever dumb shit they want onto pictures of his dead parent to make it look like they said it.
He further made a post, adding some info on what Eddie did say. Wolf posted that his father said “If it sounds good, it is good,” which goes against what the false quote says.
A fan posted another picture in the replies which had Eddie holding a paper that reads: “I will always be with you… Just push play.” Someone replied saying that it’s obvious that Eddie isn’t actually holding the paper. Wolf disagreed, stating that people still keep posting this image like Eddie really said it. He disagreed that it’s some funny little remembrance, and expressed upset over someone putting a fake quote over a dead person.
One thing Pop DID say was “If it sounds good, it is good” which kinda contradicts this stupid one. Post that with a picture of Abraham Lincoln while you’re at it, shitheads. https://t.co/oaS8SgOSrP

This is the most widely posted one and also the most egregious example. HE’S NOT EVEN FUCKING HOLDING ANYTHING IN THE PICTURE. Fuck everyone who makes shit like this after someone passes. https://t.co/j9vGX9cQ1d
