Chris Cornell’s final music video “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart” has been deleted from YouTube. The video was released in September 2015 to coincide with the release of Higher Truth, and was directed by Jessie Hill. The video stars Cornell and Eric Roberts playing prisoners about to be hanged in an old western town. Cornell marches towards the noose and it is placed around his neck, as a young boy, played by Cornell’s son Christopher Cornell, watches.

An onlooker (Elena Satine) distracts the hangman, Cornell’s noose is sabotaged by the executioner’s assistant so he survives his hanging, and he is forced into marriage with the woman who sabotaged his hanging. The video ends with the other prisoner about to be hanged and the onlooker about to play her part again.

Cornell took a turn as a stuntman on the video, and he suffered severe burns on the set.

The big stunt was a liquid chemical singeing a noose tied around his neck in a mock hanging.

It didn’t go as planned and they were forced to do it several times, with the chemicals eventually rubbing off on his neck and leaving Cornell with 2nd degree burns.

The content of the video is obviously very sensitive now, as Cornell tragically died last month when he committed suicide by hanging.

    Yes very foreshadowing indeed

  • Valarie

Whats even eerier is that he died at 52, 5-2 equals 3… Chris’s career lasted 33 years, Jesus died at the age of 33 as well

    • Corndog

      What?

      • Valarie

He was really into God, his music was his religion

        • Corndog

Fair enough, but still, it’s a bit of a reach don’t you think?

          • Valarie

nope, he was very methodical about everything

          • Corndog

Yes I’m sure the last thing on his mind was 5-2 and the number 33…

          • Valarie

how old are you corn dog? and how long have you been a Cornell fan? Not just the mainstream shit either

          • Corndog

            I’m 39.

          • PK

Don’t be silly, Valerie. His age or the intensity of his fandom has no relation to the absurdity of your numerological interpretation.

          • Corndog

            Exactly.

          • Valarie

Too many coincidences here, you may want to do your homework on all of this before you start slinging mud

          • PK

Numerology is superstition. Add and subtract as many numbers as you want, it still won’t point to anything other than your misguided willingness to believe that coincidence means something that it doesn’t.

          • Valarie

numerology is not superstition……it is taught in college, there is science behind it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerology

          • PK

If numerology is ever a topic in any qualified school, it’ll be in a class about superstition and the occult. Also, nothing in that wiki page supports your statement or your belief in magical thinking, in fact, it pretty much says the opposite, i.e., no basis in science.

          • Corndog

Can’t you just let the guy rest in peace? Stop trying to turn his death into the Da Vinci Code…

          • Valarie

please explain to me how you can ruin someones death?

          • Corndog

            ….oh for god sake.

Even crazier is that there are 52 cards in a deck and Soundgarden were playing cards in their video for By Crooked Steps. I’m sure it signifies something very important.

    • Billy

my Dad’s musical idol was Roy Orbison, mine was Cornell, both died at age 52, that trips me out

      • Trovoid

It freaks me out that Ian Curtis of Joy Division committed suicide the same day as Chris in 1980. I actually ran into someone wearing a Joy Division shirt the day I was wearing my Soundgarden one and told them that.

        • Billy

with such a gap in time between ’80-’17 it would be easy to look at it as a coincidence, but maybe not. Maybe we all have certain expiry dates regardless of how we go.

          • Trovoid

Yeah I always try not to look into things too much, but who knows?

          • Billy

also there is the dreaded 27 club, these ppl aren’t necessarily planning to become super famous and get out at that age. So ya, who knows lol

    • Wil

Valerie, amazing look at this: 52, 5+2 equals 7… 777 is the number of God. 77 is having sex while in spooning position. Spoonman? Coincidence? Wonder what it all means… You have done your homework, maybe you can educate us.
