Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan’s former solo bandmate Linda Strawberry has revealed that she will not be playing bass for The Smashing Pumpkins on their summer reunion tour. She also revealed that Katie Cole, who was a touring bassist for the band on their 2015 and 2016 In Plainsong tours, will also not be the bassist.

Strawberry made an Instagram post that said, “The truth is if you really want something nothing can stop you. If something stops you, you didn’t really want it.”

shanedenieffe commented, “You’re playing bass we get it love.”

Strawberry responded, “@shanedenieffe I love to play bass. I write from bass lines. However. No.”

spaceboy1020 commented, “@lindastrawberry gotta be Katie Cole then.”

Strawberry responded, “@spaceboy1020 no but have you heard her cover of soma.”

spaceboy1020 asked, “@lindastrawberry Love it! Just curious have you heard any of the new material? Is the new album really finished?”

Strawberry responded, “@spaceboy1020 yes and I don’t know.”

The Smashing Pumpkins will be reuniting for a tour this year with original members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin joined by Jeff Schroeder. D’arcy Wretzky recently told Blast Echo that she was ‘disappointed’ to learn she was out of the reunion. It is currently unknown who the touring Pumpkins bassist will be.
