I called Martin Shkreli today during a live video stream on his official Facebook. Shkreli is an American entrepreneur and pharmaceutical executive. He is co-founder of the hedge fund MSMB Capital Management, co-founder and former chief executive officer (CEO) of the biotechnology firm Retrophin, and founder and former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals; he gathered much attention for hiking the price of the antiparasitic drug Daraprim and raised its price by a factor of 56 (from US$13.5 to US$750 per pill).

In the past, he’s promised to release supposedly lost Nirvana music in his collection in the event Donald Trump became president. That never happened, but Shrkeli claims to still be in possession of the music. He also claims that Kurt Cobain would have loved him were he still alive.

Is it true you have unreleased Nirvana music?

Depends on what you consider Nirvana.

Well, what is it then?

That’s for me to know and for you to never find out.

You said you’d release the music if Donald Trump was elected! I think you did, at least.

True. Maybe I’ll release it!

What would you think Kurt Cobain would think of you if he was alive?

Oh, he would’ve loved me.

Really? Why’s that?

We’re both really similar, aren’t we? We’re both rebellious. You know I spoke to Courtney Love.

What did she have to say?

What do you think?

I don’t know, man. I think you represent everything he would have hated.

I don’t think so. What did he hate? Homophobia. Racism.

Right. And you seem like on opposite ends of the spectrum.

How so?

Don’t you sort of represent the corporate end of things that he hated?

He signed to Geffen, he always spoke of “selling out”. Maybe you should actually know what you’re talking about before you call.

Oh, I know all about him.

Right, okay.
