Fleetwood Mac react to reunion rumors
Fleetwood Mac reunion rumors have spread since Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have teased a revival about their collaboration, but another rumor surfaced this weekend.
On Saturday (Sept. 20th), the Daily Mail reported that “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling was planning on hiring Fleetwood Mac to perform at her 60th birthday party. While Rowling’s birthday is in July, she is planning to celebrate the milestone with a two-day party later this year.
Representatives for Fleetwood Mac, however, quickly shut down the rumors, confirming that the band is not reuniting.
“This is categorically false,” the representative told Rolling Stone. “It’s not in the realm of true.”
The last time Fleetwood Mac performed together was in 2019 at a benefit concert for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals.
Since Christine McVie’s death in 2022, Stevie Nicks has made it clear that it is unlikely she, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood will ever reunite as Fleetwood Mac.
“There is no more Fleetwood Mac now, because when Christine died, Fleetwood Mac died,” Nicks told Rolling Stone in 2024. “We cannot replace her.“
Mick Fleetwood shared a similar sentiment in 2023, telling the LA times: “I think right now, I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris… I’d say we’re done, but then we’ve all said that before. It’s sort of unthinkable right now.”
