Foo Fighters Fuel Super Bowl Rumors

The Foo Fighters recently hit the stage for their performance on Amazon Music Live following Thursday Night Football, and fans are now advocating for the band to play the Super Bowl halftime show.

The band kept their set relatively short and sweet, playing just 11 songs, compared to their usual marathon sets of 20-plus tunes. Still, the band packed in hits from across their catalog, with their show-opening performance of “All My Life.”

Foo Fighters to perform at Super Bowl?

Following their performance, fans have expressed their desire to watch the band perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. One wrote on X: “Petition for Foo Fighters to do the Super Bowl halftime show. Oh my god. #TNFonPrime”

Another fan wrote, That was awesome! Hey @NFL- want a great halftime show? The
@foofighters would be the best pick! Pair them with friggin Bruno Mars or whoever you want – I will actually watch the halftime show!”

While rock has obviously become more niche over the years, Foo Fighters are one of the few rock bands out there with enough hits to viably headline the Super Bowl. They’re also under 60, and there aren’t many bands outside of the boomer generation with the kind of clout to headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

Dave Grohl would definitely welcome guest performers as well as he always does at Foos shows, which could help connect the performance to a younger audience. While Foo fans may groan, a Billie Eilish appearance would get eyeballs on a Super Bowl halftime performance.

The Foo Fighters returned to the stage in September, performing a few special club and theater shows where they introduced their new drummer, Ilan Rubin, who replaced Josh Freese.

Since then, they have played several larger shows in Asia and have announced a North American stadium tour for 2026. The tour is set to begin on August 4, 2026, in Toronto and will conclude on September 26 in Las Vegas, with Queens of the Stone Age as the opening act.

As we are only few months away from Super Bowl, Sting has been announced as the headliner for Super Bowl-branded concert on February 6th at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the NFL’s hospitality provider, On Location, announced Tuesday. The concert will take place two days before the Super Bowl kicks off at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on February 8th.

Sting’s set will be part of the broader Super Bowl LX Studio 60 event, billed as “a weekend of unforgettable music entertainment at one of San Francisco’s most iconic venues” on the On Location website.

Criticism over Super Bowl halftime show headliner

The news comes in the wake of massive criticism of the Super Bowl halftime show, which will be headlined by Bad Bunny. The NFL’s decision to hire the “DtMF” musician drew harsh reactions from conservative political figures, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and even President Donald Trump himself.

Sting previously performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2003, coheadlining the event with Shania Twain and No Doubt.

On the other hand, there have been rumors of Creed performing at the event.

“Would you watch a TPUSA Super Bowl halftime show featuring Creed instead of the NFL’s deviant drag show?,” one person asked on X.

Another commented, “Seriously, Creed would be such an upgrade over Bad Bunny. Mr. President, can you please make this happen? The NFL needs your help.”

“If TPUSA has a counter Super Bowl halftime show starring Creed, it will crush the NFL,” said another. Others expressed similar excitement stating “I’m not watching the Super Bowl, but I would watch the halftime show starring Creed.”

Another person remarked, “Definitely would watch an TPUSA Super Bowl halftime show featuring Creed instead of the NFL’s show. Or won’t be watching anything at all.”
