Foo Fighters Reveal Why Rock Could Be ‘Screwed’

In a new CNN interview, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was asked if every time the band put out a new album it makes him nervous.

“Every time. You always wonder if it’s going to be good. Especially in this day and age where the forum for rock music is such an old smelly mare. We’re not going to seem bad ass to a 10-year old, we’re like 48 to 50 year old dudes, and I get that. We’ve sort of become the elder statesmen of rock, at some point. It’s funny, but we get a lot of fan mail: ‘You’re keeping rock alive.’ I hope someone else is going to do that, or else we’re really screwed.”

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl discussed his mother’s new TV series in a new Forbes interview.

“My mother wrote a book a few years ago called From The Cradle To The Stage about the relationship between mothers and artists. My mother got to meet all the mothers, she interviewed them all, but she wanted them to meet each other. When she came up with that idea I thought, ‘Oh my god, let me film it and I’ll turn it into a documentary special where we can also interview the musicians and talk about the love between mother and child and how that rolls over into their music.’ So it never happened, but then we talked about it a bit more and decided it would make a beautiful series.

My mother called and said, ‘Hey, I have a meeting with Live Nation [Productions], will you come to it with me?’ I said, ‘What?!’ This is my mother (laughs). I said, ‘Okay.’ And we sat down for a meeting and at the end of the meeting we had ourselves a series. So yeah I’ve worked with some pretty amazing people in my life but nobody comes close to my mother. So I’m really excited to do a f**king documentary series with her. That s**t’s gonna be great.”
