Linkin Park has been on an indefinite hiatus since the tragic death of frontman Chester Bennington in 2017 and it has left fans wondering if they would ever see their favorite band back on stage.
However, recent reports suggest that a reunion might be taking place soon. As per a recent report from Billboard, three of the band’s core members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Dave “Phoenix” Farrell are gearing up for a reunion tour that could kick off in 2025. Well, it seems Joe Hahn is in mix too.
Linkin Park recently launched a 100-hour countdown timer on their official website and social media accounts and it has ignited speculation about what the band is set to announce.
The website URL has also been updated to include the symbol ‘ø’ which is also the title of the YouTube video hosting the countdown timer. The timer is due to hit zero on Wednesday, August 28.
Mike Shinoda posted the timer on his Instagram account and Joe Hahn asked what was it about and that they needed to talk. Shinoda replied that he didn’t know about it, and he was directed to post by Brad Delson and Dave Farrell.
What Are Linkin Park Members Up To?
The band has been quiet on the music front since Bennington’s passing, and the individual members have kept busy in various creative endeavors. Mike Shinoda, the band’s co-founder and multi-instrumentalist, has continued to create art and music. Joe Hahn, the band’s creative mastermind and DJ, has also been involved in art and even worked on the soundtrack for the movie Blade of 47 Ronin.
Brad Delson, the band’s guitarist, has been involved behind the scenes, producing music and working on Linkin Park’s management. He occasionally shares updates on his projects.
Dave Farrell, the band’s bassist, had a podcast a few years back and he is enjoying golfing. Recently, he was spotted playing at the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland. Meanwhile, drummer Rob Bourdon remains the most private member of the group, keeping a low profile since the hiatus.
A Possible Reunion on the Horizon?
The potential for a Linkin Park reunion is incredibly exciting but the question remains if they can fill the void left by Bennington. Rumors are swirling that the band might recruit a female lead vocalist to step in, which would undoubtedly bring a massive change to their sound. While this would be a bold move, it could also be a way for the band to honor Bennington’s legacy while moving forward in a new direction.
Linkin Park’s impact on the music world is undeniable. With over 29.4 million albums sold in the U.S. alone and hits like “In the End,” “What I’ve Done,” and “New Divide” topping the charts, their legacy is secure. The band’s last album, One More Light, debuted just two months before Bennington’s death and serves as a poignant reminder of his incredible talent.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, the possibility of a 2025 tour has fans on the edge of their seats. A Linkin Park reunion, especially with new material or even festival dates, would be a major event in the rock world.
