The death of beloved Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, earlier this year shocked the foundation of the rock community. In memory, A series of tribute shows in his honor will be played in both Los Angeles, California and London, England. It was recently annouced that on social media via Facebook that tickets for the Los Angeles tribute will be going on sale on June 17th.
The official Foo Fighters Facebook page would state the following:
“Los Angeles! Please welcome the first wave of special guests to join The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts! More to be announced soon. Tickets on sale Friday, June 17 at 9am local time. The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will benefit charities in both the US and UK chosen by the Hawkins family. Beneficiaries and further details will be announced shortly.”
It was later revealed that A-list talent such as Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett, Alanis Morissette, Gene Simmons, Nikki Sixx, Chad Smith, Luke Spiller, Jon Theodore, Brad Wilk, Pat Wilson and more will be joining the tribute show that takes place at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 27th. In addition, more names and acts are scheduled to be annouced.
This comes off the heels during an identical annoucement for London England that takes place on September 3rd in Wembley Stadium. Performers for that show include Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde, Oasis’ Liam Gallagher, Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, Supergrass and Mark Ronson are on the bill, with comedian Dave Chappelle billed as a special guest.
Hawkins died on March 25, 2022, emergency services were called to the Four Seasons Casa Medina hotel in Bogotá, Colombia, where Hawkins was suffering from chest pain in his hotel room.Health personnel arrived and found Hawkins unresponsive; they performed CPR, but he was declared dead at the scene, at the age of 50.
