Gene Simmons, the outspoken rocker from KISS, has never been shy about sharing his opinions. In a recent interview with Michael Franzese, he was asked about his thoughts on the ongoing situation involving Diddy. While Gene kept his response measured, his perspective on the broader topics raised by the case offers plenty to unpack.
Gene Simmons opened up on meeting Diddy, describing the encounter as cordial on both sides.
“We met. He was cordial and so was I, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors?” the rocker said. “I don’t think it’s fair to comment if you weren’t there or know anything good. I mean there’s such a thing as presumption of innocent and more than that, I don’t know.”
He also shared his views on controversial topics about relationships and the legal boundaries of age. Gene also referenced the infamous story of Jerry Lee Lewis, who married his 13-year-old cousin, highlighting how laws and moral perspectives can differ by state and era.
“I have no idea. By the way, I have different points of views about not talking about Diddy, about consenting adults of a certain age, that’s one thing. But if you’re talking about underage that’s a different thing. But even today it’s a very strange thing.”
He added: “There are certain states where, I’m not saying this is right, I’m just telling you the way it is, Jerry Lee Lewis married his cousin. She was 13. I think in Alabama. Then he went off on tour, took her with and when they crossed the state, he was uh arrested, interstate, whatever. So there are States’ rights and there’s federal, but morally for me if you’re underage I think that crosses the line.”
It’s not just Gene Simmons weighing in. Other big names in the entertainment world have shared their thoughts—or in some cases, dodged the topic entirely. Sharon Osbourne, for instance, acknowledged having a professional relationship with Diddy but maintained that she knows nothing about his private life. She described him as ‘respectful and cordial’ in their interactions, adding that she’s been inundated with online backlash simply for knowing him.
Meanwhile, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee briefly stirred controversy with a cryptic post defending Diddy, which he later claimed resulted from a hack. The post referenced raising awareness and bail efforts, but it was quickly deleted, leaving fans speculating about its authenticity.
At the heart of all this are the serious legal cases Diddy is facing. Five civil suits have been filed in New York, accusing him of misconduct spanning two decades. These allegations involve multiple plaintiffs and raise significant questions about his actions and the entertainment industry.
Diddy has strongly denied all allegations and is awaiting a trial set for May 5th. As the legal proceedings unfold, the court of public opinion remains divided, with some defending him and others condemning him
