This past Saturday (March 1st), post-Grunge band Puddle of Mudd performed at the Broken Spoke Saloon during Daytona Bike Week. Though entry to the concert was free, the show was a benefit for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Ahead of their performance, the band auctioned off a signed guitar with the $5,000 proceeds going to the charity.

But despite the event’s purpose being for a good cause, the show quickly went off the rails. Those in attendance reported sound issues, and noted that frontman Wes Scantlin was stumbling and rambling onstage – which led some fans to leave early.

“Last night’s show was a total disaster. I felt really bad for the rest of his band,” noted one attendee in the comment section of a Broken Spoke Saloon social media post. “I feel bad for the band to have to play such good instruments while Wes just stumbled and rambled about fred durst on stage. Good work amazing performance put on to everyone but Wes,” another noted.

“I’m so glad that was a free show,” a third fan said. “I’d be pissed if I spent my money to see that terrible show. We left after 4 songs. When the band trashed the opening song and singer kept joking about I knew it was going to be a shit show.”

The following day, Scantlin addressed the disastrous gig when he was stopped by a fan outside of the venue.

“I suck, I suck and I suck … but I was roofied,” Scantlin can be heard saying in the video shared to the Facebook account Cash4HarleyParts.

He then blamed his terrible performance on a former bandmate, claiming that he roofied him. “My old bass player Sean Sammon roofied me last night, so he can go f*ck his *ss,” he revealed. Scantlin then walked away, but not before flipping off the camera with both hands.
