Duff McKagan recently had a high private jet bill for his London trip. The Guns N’ Roses bassist’s wife, Susan Holmes McKagan, recently shared some photos from their trip on Instagram, writing in the caption, “London is always a fave for us. What are your fav cities to visit?”

McKagan traveled in a Phenom 300 private jet for his flight from Los Angeles to London. The hourly rental cost for this jet ranges from a whopping $3,500 to $5,000. Since the flight from Los Angeles to London takes about 11 hours, the one-way cost could be between $38,500 and $55,000.

It is important to note that Duff is the third richest member of Guns N’ Roses with $70 million and he’s quite popular for making smart investment choices with his Guns N’ Roses earnings. He invested in stocks of companies like Amazon, Starbucks, and Microsoft when they were new.

Back in 2011, McKagan had formed a wealth management firm called Meridian Rock for musicians. After his pancreas exploded in 1994 due to drug and alcohol abuse, he decided to learn about finance. He took courses at Santa Monica Community College and Seattle University.

“And I went to business school to decipher that code,” he previously told Classic Rock. “I thought it was a secret language, and it turned out it was. These smart guys on TV try to look smarter by using all the terminology. Once I learnt it myself, I just thought, ‘F*ck, why don’t you just say this?’”

The musician continued, “When word got out I was going to school, I started getting calls. Friends were like: ‘Dude, should I buy this house?’ Early on I was taking math and couldn’t give anybody valid advice. But I’m one of us, not one of them. Talking to me is less embarrassing than going to an ‘expert,’ and I explain things in basic f*cking English.”

Throughout the years, Duff has accumulated quite a few properties in Los Angeles. In 1988, he purchased a cottage in Studio City for $425,000. Following this, he acquired a Hollywood Hills home in 1990 for $838,000. In 1999, he bought a mansion in Agoura Hills for $1.5 million, eventually selling it for $2.475 million in 2004.

In 2003, he acquired a Studio City home for $960,000 and sold it for $1.6 million in 2005. Later on, he purchased a Sherman Oaks home for $2.975 million, which he listed for $3.85 million in 2017. In addition to these, he also owns a $4.7 million mansion nearby and a home in Seattle that he bought for nearly $1.4 million in 1993.
