Jack White’s wife pays tribute to The White Stripes
Jack White’s wife Olivia Jean posted a message to Jack and Meg White to celebrate The White Stripes’ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
“Congratulations to my favorite band The White Stripes on being inducted into the Hall Of Fame! Many tears were shed tonight. The first time I heard The White Stripes it hit me straight in the heart. It was the first music that actually “moved” me. Inspiration shot up to ten and I was eternally hooked. I owe very much to this band for helping shape me as a creative person and for opening my eyes to a world of great music and art.
What a beautiful milestone. Love and endless applause to Jack + Meg.
…swipe to see how overboard I went with snacks at the watch party ❤️”
Jack White took the stage at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony to accept induction on behalf of The White Stripes, and he honored the band’s spirit and hometown.
“Today The White Stripes are proud to represent the sound of Detroit punk and garage rock and all of its bands and artists,” White said, his voice echoing through the packed venue. “It’s an honor to stand here for everyone who built their own world out of noise, sweat, and stubbornness.”
Jack White addresses Meg White’s absence
White immediately addressed the absence of drummer Meg White, who chose not to attend the ceremony. “She wanted me to tell you that she’s very grateful to all of the folks who supported her through all the years, and it really means a lot to her tonight,” Jack shared. “My sister thanks you, and I thank you.”
White encouraged the next generation to take up the mantle of rock and roll, and to get off their phones.
“Get your hands dirty and drop the screens and get out of your garage.”
Fans in attendance said the moment perfectly captured the ethos of the band — two misfits making something massive out of just a couple instruments.
As he concluded, Jack White dedicated the honor to the Detroit scene that raised him. “This is for everyone who ever made noise in a basement,” he said. “We did it our way — loud, simple, and honest.”
