Francesca Hetfield Reacts To Castor Post

Francesca Hetfield, the ex-wife of Metallica frontman James Hetfield, has publicly weighed in on an Instagram post shared by their son, musician Castor Hetfield. The moment drew attention after Castor uploaded a photo with his Bastardane bandmate Luca Badan that prompted a blunt comment from his mother.

Castor posted an image of what the outlet described as an awkward handshake with Badan, with both pulling their hands from the crotch area of their trousers, and Francesca responded in the comments, “Ummmm, is awkward the right word for this?”

In the same post, Castor captioned the photo “The art of the deal…,” while the exchange quickly circulated among fans due to the Hetfield family connection and Bastardane’s growing profile. Castor is the drummer in Bastardane and shares vocal duties with bassist Badan, and the band have been steadily releasing new material and building momentum on the metal circuit.

Francesca has previously addressed public attention involving her and the Hetfield family, including when she pushed back on what she described as “fake news” in earlier coverage.

For Bastardane, the minor social media flare-up arrives during an active stretch as the band continues promoting new music and expanding its audience beyond curiosity about Castor’s famous father. The episode also underlines how quickly personal posts by musicians tied to major rock acts can become part of the wider conversation around their careers.
