A video of an AI John Lennon accepting the Beatles Grammy for “Now and Then” is going viral.
In a historic moment at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 2, 2025, The Beatles clinched the Best Rock Performance award for their song “Now and Then.” This victory marks the band’s first Grammy win in 27 years, bringing their total to eight competitive awards.
“Now and Then,” often referred to as the “final” Beatles song, was crafted using advanced audio restoration technology. The production team employed machine-learning-assisted tools to extract John Lennon’s vocals from a 1977 demo, allowing Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to complete the track decades after its inception.
Accepting the award on behalf of the band, Sean Ono Lennon, John Lennon’s son, emphasized the enduring significance of The Beatles’ music. He urged, “Play the Beatles’ music to your kids. I feel like the world can’t afford to forget about people like the Beatles. We need this music in the world; we need peace and love.”
The song’s nomination was also historically significant, as “Now and Then” became the first artificial intelligence-assisted track to be nominated for a Grammy award.
This achievement underscores the timeless appeal of The Beatles and highlights the innovative fusion of technology and music, bridging the past and present in a harmonious tribute to the band’s enduring legacy.
