Music can bind people, and this across when you look at musical legends coming together to enjoy the craft. It’s one reason why Josh Homme and Dave Grohl came together and worked with each other over the years.

The Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters bandleaders worked together for the multiple Grammy-winning 2002 album “Songs for the Deaf” and then continued their bond via QOTSA, as well as Them Crooked Vultures, the supergroup they formed with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones.

According to Ultimate Guitar, Josh Homme talked about working with Dave Grohl during a recent interview with music journalism prodigy Logan Kelly. He stated, “I think the only way that I’ve been able to play with such incredible musicians, I hope, it’s because they say, ‘This is a person that’s playing like themselves, just being themselves.'”

Josh Homme talked about what makes Dave Grohl such an excellent drummer. He said, “[Dave is] such a great drummer, and he plays drums so unlike everyone else. Because Dave is a songwriter, [and] when he plays drums, it’s easy to talk about drum parts with him. And he comes up with drum parts as well. So, you could come up with some drum parts, he can come up with some, and you get excited, because those drum parts are as musical as a guitar riff, or a bass riff, or a vocal.”

Josh continued talking about the value that Dave Grohl brings to the table. He said, “It makes a difference when you listen to Dave play. You hear someone that’s playing drums as a songwriter. And so, even though John Bonham was one of his favorite drummers, he’s not copying his inspiration. The inspiration he’s taking from John bottom is, ‘John Bonham is playing like himself, I should do that too.'”
