Kid Rock recently took to his X account and wished his mentally disabled friend on his birthday.

Grand Rapids-based BAMF Health is set to launch a new non-profit foundation with help from Michigan native Kid Rock.

BAMF Health says the non-profit—which is called The Foundation for Medical Advancement and Breakthroughs (FAMB), is dedicated to advancing the development of novel radiopharmaceuticals and improving patient access to precision medicine.

The health provider credited Kid Rock’s “major donation” as part of the reason it was able to launch its new non-profit.

“We are grateful to Kid Rock and the entire Ritchie family for recognizing the world-class care delivered by the team at BAMF Health and now ensuring we’ll be able to conduct groundbreaking research and deliver care to even more people,” says BAMF Health COO Chad Bassett.

Kid Rock’s father, William R. Ritchie, was treated at BAMF Health for prostate cancer beginning in 2022. Ritchie died in 2024.

BAMF Health stated that Ritchie and his family had “incredibly positive” experiences while he was receiving treatment at their hospital.

“I would like my foundation to be the first one to donate to this incredible foundation in my father’s memory,” said Kid Rock.

“We all knew that if the treatments he was receiving at BAMF Health had been around 5-10 years earlier, our father would still be with us. As a family, we hope to spread the word about how BAMF Health is helping change the lives of those with cancer.”
