Krist Novoselic recently joined the Foo Fighters/Nirvana tribute band, Foovana, on stage at Georgie’s Garage in Vancouver, Washington, for a nostalgic performance of three Nirvana classics: “Blew,” “Lithium,” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” This marked the first time Novoselic played “Blew” live in over three decades, making it a notable event for fans.
In addition to this appearance, Novoselic has been busy with his new musical project, the Bonafide Band. This group, which started in April 2024, features a lineup of prominent musicians including:
- Mark Pickerel (Screaming Trees, Truly, Brandi Carlile)
- Kathy Moore (Brad, Star Anna)
- Jillian Weiss and Jennifer Johnson (3rd Secret)
The Bonafide Band emerged from an impromptu jam session between Novoselic and Pickerel. They quickly realized their musical chemistry and decided to form the band to keep Weiss and Johnson engaged while their drummer, Matt Cameron, was on tour with Pearl Jam. The lineup also includes Moore, known for her collaborations with Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and other Seattle bands.
The band aims to blend their past with new explorations, revisiting classic tracks from Nirvana and Screaming Trees while pushing musical boundaries. Novoselic expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We’re exploring new territory while honoring the sounds that defined us. This collaboration is about pushing boundaries and celebrating our shared history.”
