Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean, mother Wendy, and sister Kimberly attended the premiere of Growing Up Kurt Cobain on Tuesday. They released a joint statement on Frances Bean Cobain’s Instagram:

“Thank you to everyone who came to the Growing up Kurt Cobain Exhibit at the museum of style icons in Newbridge Ireland today. What a gift it is to see how my fathers artistry has transcended space, time & emotion. Every single person who came to celebrate his life has given a profound sense of validation & contentment to the people who knew him best, my gracious family. We are deeply humbled and honored to share in this experience with you all. Peace, Love, Empathy The Cobain’s ☘️

Kurt Cobain’s mother Wendy and sister Kimberly were recently photographed with Frances Bean Cobain. They were out in the wild with horses, and Frances Bean Cobain simply captioned the photo on her Instagram story with the word: ‘Family.’ View photos below.”

Frances Bean Cobain discussed her grandmother Wendy O’Connor in a recent W article. Wendy was Kurt Cobain’s mother.

Frances connects with those whose “trajectory to their childhood sounds like plots to movies,” she said. Hers certainly does, if you know anything about her past.

“I identify with that,” she said. “I had a lot of strong women around my whole life that were survivors. My grandma survived breast cancer twice and the death of her child and the death of her brother, and you know, just a lot of tragedy, and she’s still the happiest person I’ve ever met.”

“Having an immediate example of somebody who not only survives but thrives, is a good way of navigating how I coexist in the world with shitty stuff and beautiful stuff and how it balances,” she continued. “It just comes from a place of learning and wanting to grow and wanting to evolve.”

Wendy O’Connor played a large role in raising Frances Bean Cobain, especially in the year she was estranged from her mother Courtney Love.
