Matt Pinfield suffered a stroke three weeks ago, and TMZ reports that his daughter Maya, along with her sister, is filing for conservatorship, as she says his stroke has made him unable to make medical and financial decisions, and she fears his girlfriend will drain his bank account.

Matt Pinfield, a towering figure in the world of rock music, became a household name during his tenure on MTV, where his encyclopedic knowledge and passion for music made him a fan favorite. Pinfield first rose to prominence in the mid-1990s as the host of 120 Minutes, MTV’s iconic showcase for alternative and indie music. With his distinctive voice and unpretentious demeanor, he introduced audiences to groundbreaking bands like Radiohead, Nirvana, and Smashing Pumpkins, becoming a trusted guide during the height of the grunge and alternative rock explosion.

Before MTV, Pinfield honed his craft as a radio DJ in New Jersey, where his deep love for music earned him a reputation as a walking rock encyclopedia. On MTV, he extended that reputation, earning the respect of artists and fans alike for his genuine enthusiasm and insightful interviews. Beyond 120 Minutes, he appeared on other MTV programs and later transitioned to VH1, where he continued to spotlight emerging and legacy artists.
