Limp Bizkit use Chris Cornell song in Sam Rivers tribute

Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal posted an emotional candlelight vigil tribute video in honor of bassist Sam Rivers, who died Saturday. The video shows Rivers’ bass as Chris Cornell’s “Seasons” plays. Lethal said, “I’m in shock right now. We lost a family member, bandmate, and legendary bassist.”

DJ Lethal and Sam Rivers were both absent from Limp Bizkit during stints in the 2010’s, before returning later in the decade to reunite the original lineup ahead of 2021’s Limp Bizkit Still Sucks album.

Rivers’ death marks the end of an era for Limp Bizkit, whose chemistry was always anchored by his pulsating and percussive bass lines. Fans have flooded Reddit and Facebook groups with memories and condolences, sharing clips of Rivers on stage and reflecting on his quiet, steady presence in the band. Wes Borland posted old school behind the scenes clips on his Instagram story.

Rivers had taken time away from Limp Bizkit in the mid-2010s to deal with health problems, later revealing in interviews that he underwent a liver transplant after years of struggling with liver disease. In 2021, his return helped solidify the core lineup of Fred Durst, Wes Borland, John Otto, DJ Lethal, and Rivers for the band’s comeback album, Still Sucks. The record became a surprise hit, reintroducing the group to a new generation of fans.

As the tributes pour in, both fans and peers are remembering Rivers not only as a skilled musician but as a calm, grounding figure in one of rock’s most unpredictable bands. His legacy lives on through the songs he helped create and the generations of bass players he influenced.
