Limp Bizkit have publicly mourned their founding bassist, Sam Rivers. His talent and pulsating grooves helped shape the band’s sound and inspired many nu metal rockers.

Limp Bizkit Pay Tribute to Sam Rivers with Mexico City Show

Even during this difficult time, Limp Bizkit will not be breaking up, and they will still perform on November 29th at the Explanada Estadio Azteca in Mexico City as part of their Gringo Papi Tour 2025. The concert will definitely be a special tribute to Sam. Every song and every cheer from the crowd will celebrate his life and the mark he left on Nu-Metal music. Limp Bizkit also had touring replacement bassists in the 2010’s when Rivers was out of the band, including Samuel G Mpungu from 2015-2016, and Danny Connell filling in for 2023 tour dates. It’s unclear who the band’s new bassist will be, or if they’ll become an official member.

November 29th and the band’s upcoming shows with be very emotional, as every iconic bass riff will honor the great legacy that Sam offered to Nu-Metal, because his energy will never cease to exist in Limp Bizkit.

Fred Durst, the band’s lead singer, shared a video remembering how he met Sam in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, before the band became famous. He said he has cried “gallons of tears” since the news and added, “Sam’s music and gift will keep on giving. I just love him so much.”

So it’s pretty clear that their upcoming tour across Central and South America will now carry even more meaning. The Mexico City show will not just be a concert it will be a celebration of Sam Rivers’ life, talent, and the amazing music he left behind and no one can take that awya from him.
