A story about Insane Clown Posse’s Shaggy 2 Dope attempting to drop kick Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst recently went viral, but one thing that went unreported about the incident is shortly before Shaggy attempted his ill fated kick, Durst responded to a fan request for Limp Bizkit to cover Pearl Jam. Durst said, “We don’t know any Pearl Jam.”

While Durst doesn’t know how to play any Pearl Jam songs, he is a huge fan of Kurt Cobain, as he has a tattoo of Cobain and Elvis Presley on his chest.

Durst told Kerrang! in 2011 that the depression and torture he went through is what drew him closer to the late grunge icon.

“I try not to elaborate too much on the metaphors, but here’s something I haven’t told a lot of people,” Durst said. “We have an older song called ‘It’ll Be OK’ (from 2000’s Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water). It’s directly about me fantasizing inside of the depression of someone with a tortured mind, like Kurt Cobain. I really connect with him. I have my own torture.”

There is a bonus song on the 2011 Limp Bizkit album Gold Cobra called “My Own Cobain”. Durst even has a tattoo of Cobain on his chest.

“I’ve been impacted by his poetry, his philosophies and music, obviously,” the singer adds. “On this new song, it’s another way into my depression and expression of that turmoil.”
