A few days ago, Marilyn Manson praised Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s marriage to mark what would have been Cobain’s birthday. He tweeted, “A time when music and romance were one. Love to Kurt on his birthday and love to C.”

He also recently tweeted, “Show your respect for the original Man In Black. Johnny Cash. 86!”

“Should I be on one of my favorite shows, Preacher?”

Tyler Bates discussed touring with Manson in a recent Ultimate-Guitar interview.

“We just have a lot of fun up there. When you play on stage with Manson, you never know what’s going to happen – he might stop in the middle of a song, he might throw something, you’ve got to keep your eyes open so you don’t get hurt. You also have to have a sense of humor about that as well. We take the job seriously but we don’t take ourselves seriously.”

He added, “We’re so different as people. But for whatever reason, there is a musical kismet between us and we love a lot of the same music outside of the music we make and I think that’s why it works. I don’t like violence but I work on a lot of violent movies. I work on a lot of dark movies – I’ve had a lot of intense experiences that are unusual. I think because of that, Manson and I have a good understanding of that, without talking about it, when we get together and make music.”

He also discussed recording with him.

“He sits next to me with headphones on and I use a Manley Mic on him. It’s a well-rounded mic for him – it’s not too pristine and it can take a pretty intense signal. I think it really brings out a good quality in his voice. Actually, all the vocalists I’ve worked with seem to love that microphone. David Hasselhoff used the same one. So it’s the Manley through a Chandler preamp or a UA 610 and that’s pretty much it.”
