Matt Cameron has written a touching Instagram post to celebrate the 54th birthday of his Pearl Jam bandmate Eddie Vedder.

“Happy Birthday Eddie!! My love and respect for this man knows no bounds. Hope you have a fantastic day!!”

Vedder was born Edward Louis Severson III in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois, on December 23, 1964, to Karen Lee Vedder and Edward Louis Severson, Jr. His parents divorced in 1965, when Vedder was an infant. His mother soon remarried, to a man named Peter Mueller. Vedder was raised believing that Mueller was his biological father, and he went by the name Edward Mueller for a time.

The Chicago Cubs have also wished Vedder a happy birthday on Twitter.

“Happy birthday, Eddie! ? @PearlJam.”

Vedder has close ties with the Cubs, growing up a fan and frequently attending games in recent years. He was a fixture during the 2016 World Series run, and was even filmed playing street baseball with fans late at night in October after the Cubs were eliminated, and he’s also been filmed jamming with fans after Cubs games as well. Pearl Jam also played at Wrigley Field in 2013, 2016, and 2018. A film about Pearl Jam performing at Wrigley Field called ‘Let’s Play Two’ was released in 2017.
