Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett recently fell off the stage during the band’s concert in Dublin, Ireland. The incident was captured on fan-filmed video and later shared by Hammett himself to his Instagram story, where he jokingly captioned it “Slip & Destroy.”

The fall occurred during a performance of the classic track “Seek & Destroy.” The stage was reportedly wet from rain throughout the show, and fans who witnessed the moment shared their reactions online.

“Kirk Hammett falls on stage during Seek and Destroy – Dublin, June 20, 2026,” one fan wrote in the caption of the video.

Reactions from fans who saw the footage poured in quickly, with many noting the band’s seamless response to the incident.

“Kirk Hammett just went down on stage tonight in Dublin during Seek and Destroy — and the band didn’t stop for a second,” one Metallica fan commented. “Were you there? Drop your experience below. And honestly, after 40+ years of playing that song, he’s earned one fall.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, expressing relief while praising the band’s composure. “Wow they didn’t even miss a beat. Hope he’s ok,” they wrote.

An attendee at the show offered some context for the slip. “It had been raining all show so the stage was wet…..I was there and didn’t notice him fall,” the fan noted.

Hammett’s lighthearted response on his Instagram story suggests he was unharmed by the fall. No official statement from the band has been reported at this time.

The incident took place at Aviva Stadium in Dublin as part of Metallica’s ongoing M72 World Tour. The show drew a crowd of approximately 40,000 to 50,000 fans and was the first of the band’s two scheduled Dublin dates.

The M72 World Tour operates on a “No Repeat Weekend” format, meaning the band performs two entirely different set lists on back-to-back nights at the same venue. This format has become a hallmark of the tour and a major draw for dedicated fans.

The Dublin show’s set list featured a range of fan favorites, including “Creeping Death,” “Nothing Else Matters,” “Fuel,” “Seek & Destroy,” and “Master of Puppets.”
