This past Saturday (July 5th), Ozzy Osbourne took the stage for the last time, performing at his and Black Sabbath’s farewell show “Back to the Beginning.” The epic event was bittersweet for fans, giving them one final chance to see the Prince of Darkness play before heading into retirement due to his multiple health issues.
One person who had a particularly emotional reaction to the show was Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider.
“Ozzy Osbourne was a little tough to watch,” Snider wrote on Twitter/X. “It was great but Heartbreaking on so many levels. ‘Mama I’m Coming Home’ was tough to get through. For us (the audience) AND Ozzy.”
He continued, clarifying his comments:
“Please don’t read anything negative into what I said. I was just sharing my own emotions with you. It should never have to end if we don’t want it to…but sadly gravity always wins.”
In 2020, Osbourne announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The 76-year-old recently revealed he can no longer walk independently, and performed at “Back to the Beginning” while seated in a throne positioned at the front of the stage.
“I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking… For all my complaining, I’m still alive,” he said on his SiriusXM show earlier this year. “I may be moaning that I can’t walk, but I look down the road and there’s people that didn’t do half as much as me and didn’t make it.”
