Kid Rock and James Hetfield are known for doing wild and daring things, and when they’re together, things get even more extreme. Hetfield has almost been set on fire and lives the rock star life to the fullest. Kid Rock has also done crazy stuff, though probably not as dangerous as nearly catching fire.
They’ve had some rough moments together. For example, while wakeboarding, Hetfield hurt his back, according to Kid Rock. Also, Hetfield broke two ribs when he crashed a motorcycle into a fence at Kid Rock’s house. Kid Rock wasn’t even there when it happened.
Kid Rock often jokes about Hetfield’s accidents and calls himself “bad karma” for him. He likes to share the story because he finds it funny. But Hetfield is more serious about it and at first even denied the motorcycle accident in an interview. Later, though, he admitted it and joked that he should stay away from Kid Rock because hanging out with him seems to bring injuries.
Despite breaking two ribs, Hetfield kept going and performed the whole summer tour while injured. He said he doesn’t recommend singing with broken ribs, but joked that it’s better than catching on fire or other crazy things he’s been through.
It’s not clear how long Hetfield’s ribs bothered him, but since he finished the tour, the injury probably wasn’t too bad or he just has an incredible pain tolerance. No matter what, nothing not even a motorcycle crash can stop Metallica’s lead singer from doing his job.
