Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 has cast doubt on the band’s immediate recording future, saying there is currently nothing scheduled beyond the group’s upcoming touring plans. The comments come as the veteran rock act prepares for a major 2026 North American run tied to multiple anniversary milestones.

In a recent interview with EON Music, John 5 was asked directly whether fans should expect a new Mötley Crüe album and he replied:

“I don’t know what’s going to happen after the tour,” adding that “right now, there’s nothing planned, unfortunately.”

John 5 also stressed that he remains committed to the band’s current activities even if he is not privy to longer-term decisions, explaining that he is informed as plans develop and that he is happy “being a part of it.” The guitarist’s remarks frame the group’s priorities as centred on the live schedule rather than studio work, at least for now.

“So they just let me know what’s going to happen, but right now, there’s nothing planned, unfortunately,” he continued.

Mötley Crüe’s most recent release was the 2024 single “Dogs of War,” which arrived after the band signed with Big Machine Records. With the band now gearing up for a 33-date 2026 tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2005-2006 “Carnival of Sins” run as well as their 45th anniversary, any next step in recording appears unresolved.

The uncertainty leaves fans with touring as the main focus in the near term, while the band’s longer-range plans—whether that means more music, additional touring, or a sustained break—remain undecided until after the current cycle wraps.
