Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl was recently interviewed for Radio X, and he and host Chris Moyles recalled a story where Moyles’ Navy Seal buddy took down Grohl, and almost kicked his ass. Alternative Nation transcribed their quotes.
Grohl said, “The last time we had drinks together, I was almost taken out by a Navy Seal.”
“[Chris] is so afraid of being assassinated, that he would go to the local pub with a Navy Seal.”
Moyles said, “So you guys played in Brighton, we all stayed in Brighton, it was a warm evening. We’re outside the hotel having a few cigarettes and drinks, Dave sees me and goes, ‘There’s the guy from the radio, I’ll go and surprise him.’ He puts his hood up and comes up, gets to there, and the security guy who I’d known for years who’d always been with us, literally goes bam, and Dave’s pinned down on the table.”
Grohl added, “There’s a nice couple having drinks at this table, and I just go across the thing. The guy is on my neck.”
Moyles responded, “It was bad. The worst bit of that is when Dave is like, ‘What the fuck! What the fuck!’ Then he calms down really quickly, he’s like, ‘I’m so sorry, I met you this morning.’ ‘I didn’t know it was you, I just saw a guy going for Chris.’ Then Dave calms down, and just when I think we might get out of this, Dave goes, ‘It’s alright Mom, he’s his security.’ Dave’s mother is there, [shocked].”
