Sting Announced To Headline Ohana Festival

Sting has been announced to replace Neil Young at the Ohana Festival in California, alongside Pearl Jam on Friday and Sunday.

It has been a month since Neil Young canceled all concert dates due to an unspecific illness. However, it has come to light that he will be returning to the concert stage as part of Farm Aid at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York, on September. 21.

He’ll be joined by his fellow Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews along with Mavis Staples, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson with The Travelin’ McCourys, Charley Crockett, Joy Oladokun, Southern Avenue, Cassandra Lewis, and Jesse Welles.

“We’re energized to be back in New York,” Farm Aid Founder and President Nelson said in a statement. “The farmers here have always found ways to innovate and contribute to their communities, even as they deal with uncertainties, extreme weather and policies that favor corporations over people. Farmers need us to stand with them as they work to grow our future.”

Young has played every Farm Aid since the original back in 1985 with the exception of the 2021 and 2022 incarnations, which he sat out due to Covid-19 concerns.

Neil Young heading back to Ohana Festival?

When Neil young announced the cancellations of the shows, it affected are the seven Canadian shows Young had lined up in July, plus three U.S. shows he had scheduled for late September, at the Hollywood Bowl, southern California’s Eddie Vedder-driven Ohana Fest and Kentucky’s Bourbon & Beyond Festival.

A rep for Ohana Fest pointed to a statement on social media that read: “We are sad to announce that Neil Young with Crazy Horse will no longer be performing at Ohana Festival 2024. Please stay tuned for a lineup update coming as soon as possible; in the meantime, we are wishing the band a speedy recovery.” Bourbon & Beyond posted a similar message saying to “stay tuned for a replacement announcement.”

Now, as he is coming back on stage, there is a huge chance that he might be heading to Ohana Festival that takes place at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, Ca. from September 27-29.
