Many fans have wondered if there is more unreleased Chris Cornell material in the vaults, and there are unreleased Audioslave songs and Soundgarden demos from their new album that sadly was never fully recorded and completed.

There is a version of “Only These Words” with alternate lyrics in the vault. In the lyrics there is a little boy referenced in it with some alternate words, and it will likely eventually be released. “Only These Words” appeared on Higher Truth.

“It’s so sad,” Tom Morello told Music Radar about unreleased Audioslave material last year. “We had talked about playing more Audioslave shows and releasing that material and doing something together in the not-too-distant future.”

“He had a very wonderful and unorthodox songwriting talent. It was sort of part-Beatles, part-Black Sabbath, but he had this internal non-4/4 time signature clock in him that was really interesting, and it’s in some of those Audioslave songs where he would contribute chord progressions.”

Morello described the unreleased Audioslave songs as being ‘great.’ Cornell died by suicide in May 2017 while on tour with Soundgarden just months after a one off reunion performance with Audioslave.

“When Bad Does Good” is the only unreleased song set for release on the new Chris Cornell retrospective set for release on November 16th.
