London-based pop-rock artist Nico Cann is back with his captivating new single “Lose My Mind.” Released on the heels of his successful track “Light Over the Ridge” – which earned him a feature in Rolling Stone UK – “Lose My Mind” finds Cann putting nostalgia on full display.

Written in Milan in 2023, and produced by Thomas Mitchener, the song balances coming-of-age themes loosely inspired by “The Catcher in the Rye” with a sense of longing for a simpler time.

“At its heart, the song reflects on the memory of a childhood love—a time of innocence, instinct, and unfiltered emotion before the weight of adult life set in,” Cann says about the track. “It’s about longing for a past that never truly existed—a time that never was.”

With Cann drawing on his love of Don Henley and Bruce Hornsby’s “The End of the Innocence,” the song channels an unmistakable ’80s warmth while maintaining a fresh, contemporary edge. Shimmering guitars and a vocal melancholy reminiscent of Jack Antonoff and Sam Fender give “Lose My Mind” an emotional depth that evokes the essence of a bygone era.

“The song is inspired by the spirit of freedom and inventiveness that defined the 1980s,” Cann explains. “I felt that those values—hope, creativity, and a sense of possibility—are increasingly being lost today, and I wanted to capture and celebrate them through music.”

The track’s modern-’80s sensibilities are cemented in its closing moments by a soaring guitar solo performed by Cann’s close friend Nicholas Richards, whose expressive playing elevates the song’s tone.

Fusing his pop-rock style with timeless influences, Nico Cann’s “Lose My Mind” captures the bittersweet ache of nostalgia for moments that now exist only in memory. With this release, Cann proves his ability to turn personal reflection into something universally resonant.
