Nikki Sixx Casts Doubt On Motley Crue Future

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has fuelled new questions about the band’s long-term direction, signalling that his commitment to touring and recording is no longer a given as the group continues with John 5 in the guitarist role previously held on the road by Mick Mars.

During a Facebook Q&A, Sixx responded to a fan asking whether the band would keep touring with John 5 and potentially make new music, he described the situation as “taking it day by day” and said they would continue “as long as we love it.”

Sixx also stressed that the band is not his entire identity, saying Mötley Crüe “doesn’t define me,” while pointing to other creative projects and the personal cost of extended time away from his family. The remarks arrive as the band continues to adjust publicly to its post-Mars touring era, after John 5 joined in 2022 when Mars stepped back from touring due to health issues.

Sixx’s latest comments echo earlier uncertainty around the group’s schedule, including a previous moment when he raised alarms about potential cancellations as the Crüe weighed its next moves.

At present, there has been no official announcement of additional tour dates or a confirmed new studio release. Sixx’s “day by day” answer suggests any next phase for Mötley Crüe will depend on whether the core members still feel creatively invested in keeping the momentum going.
