Nikki Sixx Praises Green Day and Bad Bunny Shows

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has weighed in on two very different major performances, offering a brief but positive review that’s already getting attention from rock fans online. The message, posted on Monday morning, singled out Green Day and Bad Bunny for delivering strong live productions at the Super Bowl.

In his post, Sixx said he thought both artists’ performance “sounded and looked great,” a rare instance of the veteran hard-rock figure praising a punk-pop stadium act and a global Latin superstar in the same breath. The comment arrived as both Green Day and Bad Bunny have been headlining large-scale shows with heavy emphasis on stage design, visuals and arena-level sound.

Sixx wrote on X that he thought “both Green Day and Bad Bunny’s shows sounded and looked great,” without adding further detail on where or when he saw them.

The endorsement stands out because Sixx has typically used social media to address Mötley Crüe business, touring chatter and industry issues, rather than reviewing other acts. Recent Alternative Nation coverage has also focused on Sixx’s band-related updates, including when he addressed a major Mötley Crüe cancellation claim that circulated among fans.

While brief, the post underscores the increasingly blurred lines between rock, pop and hip-hop touring worlds, with production standards and audience expectations converging across genres. With both Green Day and Bad Bunny drawing multi-generational crowds, Sixx’s approval is likely to keep the conversation going about who is putting on the best big-budget live show right now.
