Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx recently addressed where things stand between him and W.A.S.P. frontman Blackie Lawless, saying the two have not stayed in close contact despite a shared history in the early Los Angeles glam scene.
During a recent Q&A, Sixx said he has “always thought highly” of Lawless’ “songwriting and vision,” but added that “life got busy and we lost contact.”
Sixx also pointed to the realities of constant touring as a reason friendships can fade, and said he is “happy to” see W.A.S.P. out playing.
“Always thought highly of Blackie’s songwriting and vision but life got busy and we lost contact,” Sixx said. “Its not an easy business touring for years and being able to stay tight with people. Happy to WASP out playing.”

His response came after a fan asked about their current friendship and whether any demos exist from their past collaboration in the glam band London.
The relationship between the two musicians dates back to the early 1980s, when Sixx played in a project fronted by Lawless that was at one point called Sister. Sixx has previously described being fired from that group as an unexpected turning point, before he moved on to form Mötley Crüe and release “Too Fast for Love.”
Sixx’s comments arrive as he continues to stay in the spotlight with Mötley Crüe-related news, including past moments when he fired back at a Vince Neil insult during online exchanges about the band. For now, his latest update suggests there is no active rift with Lawless—just the distance that can come with decades in the same hard-travelling business.
