The Peel It Back Tour in 2025 felt like it might be Nine Inch Nails’ victory lap. It was their first proper run since 2022, and the trek carried a sense of urgency from the jump — starting in Europe during the summer before making its way through major U.S. arenas in late August.

Fans were buzzing that it could be the last time to see the band for a while after the Los Angeles tour finale, given Trent Reznor’s history of pulling NIN off the road for years at a time. The feeling was heightened by Reznor’s and Atticus Ross’s heavy workload outside the band, with film scores dominating much of their creative output.

That speculation wasn’t unfounded. After all, in past cycles NIN disappeared from touring for five-year stretches, like after Wave Goodbye in 2009, and again following their 2018 run before resurfacing in 2022. So when the 2025 shows leaned into career-spanning setlists with epic production — lasers, immersive visuals, and even a few tracks from the Tron: Ares soundtrack (their first full film score released under the Nine Inch Nails name) — fans treated it like a potential goodbye. Every night carried that unspoken electricity: this could be the last NIN tour for years. Fortunately, Trent Reznor is showing no signs of slowing down into his 60’s.
