Nine Inch Nails To Record With Surprising Smashing Pumpkins Member


Former Adore era touring Smashing Pumpkins member Mike Garson has announced that he intends to record with Nine Inch Nails again, after working on select The Fragile songs in 1999.

Trent Reznor reunited with Mike Garson at Nine Inch Nails’ show at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Friday night. Garson played piano on select songs on 1999’s The Fragile, and he is best known for his work with David Bowie, one of Reznor’s heroes and mentors. Just last weekend, Garson reunited with The Smashing Pumpkins, who he toured with in 1998 to promote Adore. Garson played piano on “Disarm” at KROQ Absolut Almost Acoustic Christmas.

At NIN’s show on Friday, Garson played “Just Like You Imagined”, “La Mer”, and “In This Twilight”. Gary Numan and Mariqueen Maandig were also special guests. You can watch video of Mike Garson with Nine Inch Nails at the Hollywood Palladium below the setlist.

Courtney Love’s former Hole drummer Scott Lipps attended Nine Inch Nails’ show at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday, and he had high praise for Trent Reznor and company. Lipps played in Hole from 2011 to 2012.

Smashing Pumpkins touring bassist Jack Bates attended Nine Inch Nails’ show at the Hollywood Palladium on Wednesday night.

He tweeted, “So excited to see @nineinchnails tonight at @thepalladium!”
