Noel Gallagher recently talked about his brother Liam’s talent as a frontman during an interview on the Rockonteurs podcast. This came before Oasis announced their massive 2025 reunion tour. He praised Liam for being great at getting the crowd excited and making even average songs sound amazing. Noel admitted that he isn’t as good at this, which has made him work harder on his music since going solo after Oasis broke up in 2009. Liam is obviously more of a charismatic showman onstage.
“Going solo, it’s like, I’m a terrible salesman,” Noel shared. “I’m the worst. Frontmen, what they are, are salesmen. They can f*cking sell anything, and they can make average songs sound great, and they can carry a night in an arena like no one else. I can’t do that, now.”
Noel mentioned that Liam had a special way of communicating with the audience by making random, funny comments that people love, even if they didn’t always make sense. He also said that while Liam would sometimes walk off stage or cancel shows, he himself couldn’t do that—he’s always been committed to finishing a performance, which made him take his singing more seriously after the band split.
“So, my songs now have to be twice as good as what they used to be,” Noel explained about his career after Oasis. “Because I can’t do that thing that—Liam was the best in the world at talking utter f*cking nonsense down a mic about furry skateboards and a f*cking corner poodle, and you [go], ‘What is he f*cking going [on about]?’ but people loved it.”
He continued, “The thing is I could never accept walking off-stage in the middle of a gig. I would never accept that. I would never accept not turning up, and the gig being canceled. That’s when I started to take singing seriously because I was like, ‘Well, I’m f*cking damned if I’ve come all the f*cking way here and I’m not having a night out.’ Because you’re all over.”
Despite their long-standing arguments, Noel and Liam recently announced that Oasis will reunite for a tour in 2025. They’ll play 14 shows across the UK and Ireland in July and August, including stops in Cardiff, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Dublin. The tour might continue in other countries after the UK dates.
It’s still unknown who else will join the Gallagher brothers on stage for this big reunion tour.
