Inspired by “Dark Matter” and Eddie Vedder’s poignant vocals, SeaLegacy’s video has amplified the urgent call to action for our planet’s future, revealing the plight of our world through nature’s lens. The band also discussed ‘stolen lands’ on Columbus Day.
We are on the front lines of a new climate era: a world built on stolen lands, waters, and futures. Without our voices for the oceans and the Earth, our fellow species will vanish in silence. In today’s rapidly changing environment, endangered marine species and vulnerable coastal Indigenous communities are facing increasing threats. Renowned photographer and filmmaker Paul Nicklen, along with creative producer and film editor Jason Smith, have combined Nicklen’s stunning imagery with Pearl Jam’s passionate call for collective action. Together, they are highlighting the urgent need to address overfishing, pollution, and the destructive impacts of climate change on our oceans and marine life.
SeaLegacy was co-founded by Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier in 2014 with the goal of inspiring a global community to develop a deep appreciation for the ocean. They use powerful visual storytelling to mobilize a network of changemakers and advocate for diplomatic solutions to protect the world’s most precious ecosystems.
By combining art with activism, SeaLegacy aims to instill hope and motivate people to take action for the future of our planet. You can join the cause and become a voice for our ocean at SeaLegacy.org.
