Dave Abbruzzese reveals he got mugged after receiving award from Aerosmith

He said that it was a pleasure meeting them. However, Abbruzzese revealed that he got mugged at knifepoint in the parking lot. He talked about Aerosmith retiring from touring and thanked them. He wrote:

“There was a time when my drum tech Jimmy Shoaf and I attended the Foundations Forum and the guys from Aerosmith presented Pearl Jam with an Award.  I accepted it on behalf of the band and had the great pleasure of chatting with the guys from Aerosmith backstage.”

He added: “It was an incredible evening that wasn’t foreshadowed by the fact that Jimmy and I got ‘mugged’ at knifepoint in the parking lot when we were leaving.  I was totally blown away by how cool the members of Aerosmith were to me.  I had seen them live many times and they never failed to deliver and inspire.  Now that they have announced their retirement from performing live, it feels only right to say thank you for the decades of rock and roll.  Their music will continue to be a part of the soundtrack of my life.”

During Aerosmith’s concert at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York on September 9th last year, frontman Steven Tyler fractured his larynx and it forced the rest of the tour to be called off. The band recently announced that the band is officially retiring from touring. They have canceled the rest of what would’ve been their farewell tour as Steven Tyler struggles to recuperate from the vocal injury.

Aerosmith first started the Peace Out farewell tour in May of 2023 but played just three shows before pushing dates back after Tyler injured his Larynx. The band announced the new show dates back in April. They had originally planned to continue the tour in September. The cancellation unfortunately puts an end to the touring career of one of the most popular rock bands in history. Aerosmith has sold more than 150 million records worldwide.
