According to Spin, Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard celebrated the relaunch of Loosegroove Records, a record label he co-founded in 1994 with Regan Hagar, with an intimate party at Los Angeles’ Peppermint Club. The event featured a tribute to the late Chris Cornell, a close friend of Gossard, with a cover of Audioslave’s “I Am the Highway.”
Stone Gossard and Chris Cornell were part of the pre-grunge Seattle music scene and collaborated on the Temple of the Dog project following the death of Mother Love Bone’s Andy Wood in 1990. After Cornell’s passing in 2017, Gossard paid tribute by covering Soundgarden’s “Hunted Down” and helping organize a star-studded Cornell tribute concert in 2019.
During the Peppermint Club event, Gossard also performed a cover of the Stooges’ “No Fun” with Loosegroove artists James and the Cold Gun. Other label artists, including Brittany Davis and U.K. rock trio Tigercub, graced the stage as well.
Loosegroove Records, initially active until 2000, was revived by Gossard and Hagar in 2020, with the label signing a distribution deal with the Orchard.
As for Pearl Jam, the band is preparing for the release of its 12th studio album in 2024, produced by Andrew Watt.
