Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard told a Chris Cornell story in a new Reddit AMA, discussing recording their 1996 album No Code at his Studio Litho, and he had left a human dummy nicknamed ‘Sagety Man’ behind. Soundgarden then showed up to record their final album at the time, Down on the Upside.

“People had been using Safety Men to cheat in the SUV lanes by having in passenger seat,” he recalled.

“Long story short, safety man had been on the couch the whole time SG record and one day [engineer] Matt Bayles arrived and was getting ready to record and as he turned around Safety man stood up and scared the shit of him… Chris has snuck in and put on all of safety mans clothes and sat there for 20 mins waiting… so funny.”

Pearl Jam recently released their new album Gigaton, but they have been forced to postpone their North American and European tours due to the worldwide disease pandemic forcing the cancelation and postponement of all major music tours and bringing the economy in many countries to a complete standstill. Pearl Jam haven’t yet announced new tour dates, but many tours have already been rescheduled for fall 2020 and 2021.
