Perry Farrell’s wife speaks about lawsuits

Perry Farrell’s wife Etty Lau Farrell recently appeared to take a shot at Dave Navarro and Jane’s Addiction’s lawsuit on social media, but she later said she wasn’t talking about them.

While Etty Farrell didn’t name Jane’s Addiction members by name, her new post with a quote from Cardi B about lawsuits fueled speculation it was a shot at the lawsuit by Perry Farrell’s ex-bandmates over lost income.

She wrote, “Yes. Preach. You’ve got to work for that money like everyone else. It’s a tough world out there.. Just because you can’t get a job, too lazy to get a job, have some excuse why you can’t work, that’s on you.”

She added, “You’ve made mistakes that let to a loss of income, and you now can’t pay your bills, you should’ve thought further ahead. Do better. Try harder. Don’t waste anyone’s time by lying and filing frivolous lawsuits against those who have worked hard, and have continued to work hard for their money. Her money is for her family and for those whom she loves and cares for.”

Perry Farrell’s wife clarifies Instagram comment

However, in another post, she clarified that her comments weren’t meant as an attack, but as long-held feelings about the band’s decline. She wrote, “I posted about Cardi B‘s victory in court yesterday, and my commentary was misconstrued by some as an attack on the band. This post by all means, is NOT a statement I am making, so please don’t take it as such. I’m not here to start a debate, I just want to share my feelings that have been sitting heavily in my heart. There are no sides, certainly no winners – just words and feelings I have held in for a very long time.”

While the band could be “glorious and unstoppable” when united, she said it required all four members to share the same motivation and make compromises. That balance fell apart during European and U.S. tours, where egos, envy, and animosity tore them apart. The tensions boiled over in Boston, but in her view, the band had fractured long before.

She closed by saying all she ever wanted was for Jane’s Addiction to be remembered as one of the greatest bands in history, and asked fans to join her in mourning their loss.

She added, “All I wanted, was for the band to be hailed as one of the greatest band in history. Dynamic, artistic, awe inspiring and unstoppable.. if you have read through thus far, I appreciate your compassion and respect as you join me and many others in mourning the loss of Jane’s Addiction. Much love to you and yours.”
