Rikki Rockett Responds to Replacement Rumors
Poison drummer Rikki Rockett recently addressed rumors that the band is looking for a new singer to replace Bret Michaels. Speaking with Drum Talk TV, Rockett said the headlines went too far and misrepresented what he meant.
“We’re not out looking for a singer right now,” Rockett said. “We’re not sitting around, talking about getting another singer.” He explained that Poison is not actively planning any lineup change and hopes things can still work out.
What Rockett Really Meant
Rockett said he was answering a hypothetical question when he mentioned that nothing is ever completely impossible. “We’re hoping that something will come together,” he said. “But I was asked if that was out of the question, and I’m like, well, I guess nothing’s out of the question, really.”
He compared it to other unlikely situations, saying just because something isn’t impossible does not mean it is actually being planned.
Why the 2026 Tour Fell Apart
The rumors began after Poison’s planned 2026 tour was canceled. The tour was meant to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary. Reports said the tour fell apart after Bret Michaels allegedly asked for much more money than the rest of the band.
Rockett said he does not want to replace Michaels. “I don’t want to do that,” he said. “I don’t think there’s a better frontman for Poison.”
Looking Ahead
Despite the setback, Rockett kept things light and joked that maybe Poison could do a “41st anniversary tour” in 2027 if everything gets sorted out.
