Happy Halloween! Post Death Soundtrack have released a new music video for “Chosen Sons” and, it is the perfect treat on the day of trick or treat! It is the first look at their highly anticipated third album.

The track opens with a creepy Halloween and Stranger Thingsesque soundscape, with scathing Nine Inch Nails guitars sounding like they’re howling from hell. As the rhythm and main verse vocals kick in, the track is reminiscent of Tool and A Perfect Circle.

There are great lyrics, one especially is ‘the perfect place for hope to hide.’ The story behind the song and video is actually very deep, and features Steve Moore’s scathing commentary on extremist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda. Temporarily placing himself in the shoes of one of these misguided soldiers, Moore investigates with biting sarcasm, the tragic path from scorned youth to radicalized zealot. Committing atrocities for a God that he will likely never meet.

Moore said, “Organizations like ISIS happily recruit child soldiers online and enjoy the luxury of selective, self-referential truth. Donning their black masks and strutting in the parade, this is our ode to these huffing and puffing children, these chosen sons.”

“This music video was a departure for me – using CGI as oppose to live-action – and was a whole new way of getting creative. Thank you Jon and Steve for this opportunity to put to screen some darker depths,” video creator Colin Everall said.

The video shows haunting imagery that brings back memories of Tool’s music videos, whose guitarist Adam Jones helped quarterback with his experience in the film industry. Post Death Soundtrack would make a great opener for Tool on their 2019 European tour, if you are reading this Tool management! The visuals give an almost virtual reality type experience, they would fit great on a video game.

There is synth near the end of the song followed by a melodic guitar riff that ends the song on a peak. Post Death Soundtrack is literally the perfect name for this band, as “Chosen Sons” would sound at home on a creepy horror film soundtrack!
